Helios Herrera is Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Warwick and leads the Political & Public Economics Research Group at Warwick and the POLECON Group at CEPR. His research interests are in political economy, broadly defined. His recent research agenda focuses on economic populism and on fake news. His past contributions have been on electoral systems and voter participation, on the micro side; on political distortions of optimal policies, on the macro side.
He holds a PhD in Economics (2002) from New York University and a B.A. in Physics (1996) from Pavia, Italy. During 2002-2006 he was permanent faculty at CIE-ITAM in Mexico City, during 2007-2013 in the School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) of Columbia University, and then in the Department of Applied Economics at HEC Montreal (2013-2016).
